About the project
The Brief
TopFruit contacted us to produce a TV commercial for Pink Lady apples, a sponsor of the popular KykNet show Elders with Erns. The client wanted to feature Erns from the show, while also highlighting the freshness and versatility of Pink Lady apples. The goal was to capture how the apples can be enjoyed right after picking, as well as to showcase recipe ideas that could inspire viewers. The recipes were provided by food consultant Heleen Meyer, with the actresses in the commercial preparing and enjoying them as part of the storyline.
The Solution
We coordinated with the Elders production team to seamlessly integrate Erns into the commercial. The show's team filmed Erns picking a Pink Lady apple and tossing it, which transitioned into our segment where an actress catches the apple. This scene symbolised the freshness of Pink Lady apples, taking the audience from orchard to table. The actresses were shown preparing and enjoying recipes provided by Heleen Meyer, giving practical ideas for how Pink Lady apples can be used in everyday meals.
Involvement
Our team managed the production process, including filming the actresses who prepared the recipes. The shoot focused on capturing the natural freshness of the apples and the enjoyment of making and eating the provided dishes. Heleen Meyer’s recipe ideas were integrated into the commercial, with the actresses using her recipes to create appealing, apple-based dishes, adding a culinary dimension to
the final ad.
